ACCESS: VFX ‘Neurodiversity Special’ Podcast
Last week, Cinesite Montreal’s Employer Brand Marketing Specialist, Amélie Chagnon-Fathé, was featured in the ACCESS: VFX Podcast alongside Ellie Algar, Senior Recruitment Manager – Technology & Immersive at Framestore, Bridget Dash, Talent Acquisition Manager for DNEG Feature Animation and Simon Taylor, Series Director & Animator at Blue Zoo, for a special episode on the realities of neurodivergent people in the VFX and Animation industry.
The group discussed a variety of topics including their path to a diagnosis, experience in the industry and suggestions to promote better understanding and inclusion of neurodivergent individuals in studios around the globe.
When asked why she chose to take part in the episode, Amélie told us: « It is important for me to normalize the idea of women of colour being neurodivergent and finding their place in society. Our common understanding of ASD and ADHD is often focused on white men and boys’ realities and widening that scope can be so powerful for young neurodivergent people trying to figure out who they are and how to navigate their careers with this diagnostic. Having role models who looked like me growing up would have been such a big help for me, so I hope to be one for the next generation.»
