Quebec Expertise at the Heart of Michael: Cinesite Montréal Featured in Radio-Canada Interview

On Monday, April 20, at Cinesite’s Montréal studio, Véronique Tassart, Global Director of Strategic Projects at Cinesite, took part in an interview with Radio-Canada journalist Charles Rioux to highlight the local expertise behind the film Michael.

With the release of the feature film, this large-scale production — supervised by Quebec VFX Supervisor Louis Morin — showcases the strength and depth of Quebec’s visual effects industry. In collaboration with leading Montréal studios including Folks and Rodeo FX, Cinesite Montréal played a key role in delivering several of the film’s standout sequences, notably recreating the iconic crowds surrounding the “King of Pop” with striking realism.

Supported by nearly 300 artists in Montréal, the work reflects a clear creative ambition: pushing the boundaries of realism while ensuring that visual effects remain seamless and invisible on screen. As Véronique Tassart explains: “The main goal is to make everything feel real. We want our visual effects to be as invisible as possible — that’s where our talent lies.”

Beyond its technical achievements, Michael also represents an important moment for the visual effects industry, which is steadily regaining momentum after a challenging period. The project underscores the continued trust of major international productions in Quebec’s creative talent.

This collaboration further reinforces Montréal’s position on the global stage and highlights Cinesite Montréal’s role in delivering world-class visual effects for major productions.
