With over 15 years of experience within the visual effects and feature animation technology arena, Stephen Winters serves as the Director of IT for North America at Cinesite.  

In his role, Stephen manages Infrastructure Development, Data Operations, Desktop Support and Systems Engineering at Cinesite’s Montreal VFX and Feature Animation divisions. With a keen eye on the future and a deep-rooted appreciation for VFX and Feature Animation, Stephen Winters continues to make significant contributions to the ever-evolving landscape of technology at Cinesite.

Stephen began with a Master of Fine Arts degree specializing in Visual Effects at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and his career has been focused on innovation and management to facilitate the art of our industry. Prior to joining Cinesite in 2020, Stephen held various positions with Sony Pictures Imageworks, initially at its California division, then in Vancouver. As IT Systems Project Manager he oversaw the infrastructure for both locations’ busy Visual Effects and Animation teams.

A keen advocate for the importance of sharing knowledge with future talent, in his previous role at SPI Stephen established and managed an internship program. “I will always remember those mentors throughout my career, at SCAD, SPI and at Cinesite,” he says, “who knew how to develop me into the person I am today.” A strong and enthusiastic manager, Stephen is committed to supporting his team.

Outside of work, Stephen loves trying new things and often has a monthly new hobby, but fly fishing is his main passion.
