Andrew Gartner
CG Supervisor

Andrew Gartner is a CG Supervisor responsible for planning and executing the technical vision for animated productions. He oversees everything from initiating specific technology initiatives and coordinating with artistic leadership, to managing their deployment and problem-solving on the production floor. Andrew also plays a key role in client discussions, ensuring alignment on execution strategies and project timelines.

His main strength lies in his technical background, which allows him to set accurate expectations and balance quick solutions with stable long-term foundations. With extensive experience across major industry projects, Andrew understands how technology impacts artists daily, crucial for effective planning.

Andrew’s academic journey combines art and technology, with a Bachelor’s in Media Arts and Animation and a Master’s in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon.

Before Cinesite, Andrew spent a decade at Walt Disney Feature Animation as a General TD, contributing to almost every animation project from 2011 to 2021. He focused on pipeline development, especially in lighting and rendering, and helped adopt new technologies like Moana’s water simulation and Disney’s Hyperion renderer. His credits include Big Hero 6, Frozen, Zootopia, and Encanto. He also served as Assistant Technical Supervisor on Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Tactics Supervisor on Strange World.

Andrew is particularly proud of his work on Disney’s Hyperion renderer and NPR development for Smurfs. He’s been part of teams that have won numerous industry awards, including Oscars and Golden Globes.

What keeps Andrew passionate is the unique technical and artistic challenges each show presents, especially with Cinesite’s diverse project styles. Outside of work, he enjoys playing music and is an avid video gamer.
