Andy Serkis’ ‘Animal Farm’ Animation Acquired by Angel, First Trailer Unveiled

Andy Serkis’ animated adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm has finally got a trailer and theatrical release date.

Utah-based production and distribution company Angel Studios, will bring Animal Farm to U.S. theaters on May 1. With a voice cast including Seth Rogen, Glenn Close, Woody Harrelson, Kieran Culkin and more, the film was produced by Adam Nagle and Dave Rosenbaum for Aniventure, and Jonathan Cavendish for Imaginarium Productions, with animation from Cinesite. The film premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival earlier this year.

“Orwell’s Animal Farm has never felt more relevant,” said Serkis. “In an age where power, propaganda, and inequality shape our societies, it’s vital that we remember his cautionary tale. This adaptation isn’t just a story for entertainment — it’s a reminder that democracy, freedom, and integrity are fragile, and must be watched over.”He added: “My hope is that audiences walk away moved, thoughtful, and inspired to stand up for the values that matter. I’m honored that Angel and the Angel Guild are willing to bring this film to big screens around the world.”

The voice cast includes Rogan as Napoleon, Close as Freida Pilkington, Harrelson as Boxer and Culkin stars as Squealer. Meanwhile, there’s Gaten Matarazzo as Lucky, Laverne Cox as Snowball, Jim Parsons as Carl, Kathleen Turner as Benjamin and Iman Vellani as piglets Puff and Tammy. Serkis himself voices Mr. Jones and Randolph the Rooster.
