Cinesite spent our first 22 years as a wholly owned division of Kodak. Shortly after opening in 1991 we embarked on the groundbreaking restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs using the Cineon suite of digital film systems. As one of the first successful VFX studios outside of the US, our London division (now our HQ) has delivered VFX for multiple classics, including nine Bond films, the first of which, Goldeneye, was the first to utilise CGI.
We also created some of the most memorable sequences in the Harry Potter series of films, as well as building the iconic scale models for the films which are now on show at The Warner Bros. Studio Tour – Making of Harry Potter, near London.
In 2013 Cinesite became independent from Kodak. Shortly thereafter, having released the viral short animation Beans to public acclaim, we opened a Montreal division, offering services in both VFX and Animation.
Since then, Cinesite has continued to expand our own brand services in addition to evolving into one of the largest independent entertainment service groups in the world following the acquisitions of Image Engine, Trixter, L’Atelier Animation, Squeeze Studios, Assemblage Entertainment, FX3X and Imaginarium Studios.
The Cinesite group of studios has collectively won multiple Visual Effects Society awards, two BAFTAs, three Emmy awards and contributed VFX to several Academy award nominated and winning films. Find out more about our journey in our timeline below.
Every great company starts with a great culture.
We nurture creativity by building the right kind of culture at our studios. We are proud that so many nationalities are represented in our international teams and foster an outlook which is enriched by diversity. We have a “no jerks allowed” approach and are proud that our teams are full of creative, authentic people.
Fun is also very important to us! Whether it’s Sugar Shack visits in Quebec, skiing together in Vancouver or holding a Cream Tea in London, we try our hardest to find new and interesting ways to brighten up every day.

A Commitment to Artists
We support growth by making our studios a place for you to expand your learning and sharpen your craft. We believe in a core team approach that builds upon the cumulative experience of our core team while passing down knowledge to junior talent. We offer training across disciplines. For example, our supervisors organise interactive presentations to educate the entire crew on the workflows, goals and challenges of each department. We also offer activities like lunch-time drawing classes to create a vibrant, creative community in addition to book clubs, bake clubs, yoga and hold regular social events.
A Commitment to Leadership
We are developing the next generation of supervisors and production management- which could be you! Our talent managers work with artistic leadership to build strong feedback loops and training programs.
A Commitment to Inclusivity
It’s at the forefront of everything we do. And we don’t just talk about fairness, diversity and inclusion–we strive to actively embody fairness, diversity and inclusion. Ensuring our workplace is respectful for all is an ongoing mission and we’re always learning, always getting better.
